What is PTSD According to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs "It is a Trauma related problem that appears to be very common" As a matter of fact fifty to ninety percent of all adults and children are exposed to a psychologically traumatic event (such as a life-threating assault (rape or domestic violence) or accident, human caused or natural disaster or war) in their lives.

including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic, phobic, generalized anxiety
disorders; depression; or substance abuse. Symptoms of PTSD include the
persistent, involuntary re-experiencing of traumatic distress, emotional
numbing and detachment from other people, and hyper-arousal (e.g.,
irritability, insomnia, fearfulness, and nervous agitation). PTSD can
also contribute to the following behaviors:
- Alienating yourself to prevent stressful situations
- Hiding your feelings of anxiety and fear
- Reliving the trauma in dreams and flashbacks
- Panicking in social situations you cannot escape
- Suffering in your performance and work
- Abusing drugs and drinking to mask your problems
- Feeling like your facing all of this alone
- Thoughts of suicide
If you are experiencing any or all of these problems I can help. When you come to see me for counseling I will provide a very
safe, compassionate, confidential and supportive environment for you to begin to heal. I will design a treatment plan tailored
to your specific needs. I will introduce you to Mind/Body Medicine which includes treatment in
the areas of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual growth. Mind/Body Medicine includes such
treatments as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, creative visualization, stress
management, exposure therapy and other treatments. When you are ready to leave counseling
you will:
- Know a new freedom for yourself
- Start planing for the future without anxiety and fear
- Reclaim a life worth living in a world where your
feelings really do count
- Regain your dignity
- Live your life without being ashamed of who you are
- Confront the dreams and flash backs
- Begin the process of gaining intimacy with your
loved ones
You have been tortured enough by these horrible events. Take the steps necessary to
be good to your self. You can rebuild a life that you will appreciate. You will use the events
to strengthen yourself. Call me at 480-250-1857
